Supreme MasterAfter a maddening three weeks in Singapore, we were celebrating the Christmas and New Year of 2010 and it was almost time for me to head back to India. On New Year’s Day, 1st Jan 2010, my friend took us to tour Singapore’s China town. We first went to the Buddhist tooth-relic temple and then to the oldest Mariamman Hindu temple, established back in 1827. It was interesting to see two of the oldest and most significant temples established next to each other.

As we walked through the Pagoda Street of China town, experiencing the most beautiful Chinese art and culture, both my Mom and I got carried away. We window shopped and went through every store and kept checking out which store was selling the same product at a lower price.

Suddenly I came across a very beautiful store which has antiques and other show pieces which were quite old and were from various parts of the world. There was a very beautiful woman in her late 50’s who was the owner of the store called ‘Pagoda Arts and Crafts’. As we were seeing her wonderful collections, we got quite excited about the various kinds of merchandise displayed. The store had a huge collection of Chinese antiques, old jade Buddhas, Chinese handicrafts, bronze statues, etc.

We spent a lot of time going through every section of the collections displayed, carefully picking all the things we wanted to buy. As I was browsing through each segment, I came across a small vintage-looking cupboard which had a huge display of collections of small brass idols of various Gods and Goddesses, both Hindu and Chinese ones.

As my eyes continued to browse, suddenly they caught sight of one idol. I could not clearly see it at first as it was dark and there was no light near the cupboard there. I removed the small idol out and lo and behold! I was in tears. Who did I find or rather, who found me? Lord Dattatreya – The Master of this Universe, found me! I stood there, mesmerized, holding him in my hand and going mad with tears rolling down my cheeks. I can never explain in words the bliss I experienced and experiencing! Finally I was blessed into the world of Spiritual. I had definitely passed the test of my faith in wanting to know God and meet Him.

There was three idols in total. I bought them all and excitedly gave one to my friend’s mom, one I kept it for myself and the last one I gave to my Master as a New Year’s gift. I got it gift wrapped and took it to the Airport. The first thing I did when I met my Krsna Guru was offer to Him the gift. He opened it and took it in his hand and blessed it. He then gave it back to me saying, “You’ll need Him more than I do and so keep Him with you”. I never understood the meaning of what he meant until much later but it was the best New Year gift I have ever received. From then on my ‘Guru Dev’ comes to live with me Eternally.

With the grace of my Master I have been able to pen this most wonderful experience in a string of words. Thank you for reading and do watch out for my next write-up about ‘The three Guru’s establish themselves within me’.
