The formal education makes monkeys out of humans. Vocational training doesn’t make us common sensical. Now that’s a very narrow minded approach.
You can come up with pros and cons for both these methodologies. You can keep on arguing till dawn about both yet I can assure you that both are neither right nor wrong.
Every year you have committees and councils appointed to make education more learnable. And every single year they debunk past methods and expect their own to give spectacular results. It’s a scam.
Why are you getting so much angry at your kid not doing Computer Engineering when he wants to join the stagecrafts? He can shine wherever he wants to. Again it’s not necessary for every person to become outrageously successful. He can be a good failure. Check out all your near and dear ones! Or the people you meet in a restaurant. Do you really think they are successful in life? Everyone cites examples of Bill Gates or Obama or Mandela or Gandhi. They are one off examples and never bordering on the absolute common denominator. The simple human being just has to get to his spot and be good in his own eyes.
It may be the job of a metal polisher or a barber. Does it matter?
Think about this. Do you remember any famous astronauts after Armstrong? Can you name own destinywhom did Bush succeed as President? See! No one remembers. So why do you denounce mediocricity? Everyone cannot become the greatest scientist, computer experts, great mothers, big bosses or supermen! Lets make education fit for normal humans.
If you are above average, super genius or plain brainy then you are in the wrong place. You should go and find yourself mentors for your success pathways!
Every school or college churns out mediocre students and only few top! Of course only few will top. Do you believe there are more than 200 number ones? There can be only one number one, right? The rest will be number 2 to 200! So doesn’t it make other than that one, the rest of the class?
So when someone drops out of school or college, why do you think their success depends on bookish education or marks cards?
So as a final note. I believe everyone is doing the right thing and all are at the perfect destinations in life. Only trust your path and trudge along. Lets be the best in our own eyes. Lets not try to fulfill our parents unrequited urge for higher education when you just want to make your life in some street plays or writing apps for yourself.
Be your good self. Stop trying to imitate someone else. You are the only one and the best there is.
Trust your own self and know you can do anything that you set your heart on. Stop getting slotted in some bracket. Be the master of your destiny.
