choiceDo we have choices or not? How do we get to meet our friends and relatives in life? You had absolutely no choice when you were born regarding your parentage or relatives! You were forced to accept your parents and whomsoever came along with them. You had no choice of your siblings or your surroundings too.
You opened your eyes to a world which started to label you as someone by name.
Think about it, you were spoon-fed with every little thing. Even your mental makeup was crafted by people around you. Your likes and dislikes. The food that you eat, the language that you speak, the clothes that you wear and even your daily toilet is controlled by these people around you. The schools that you attended and the friends that you had. The teachers that taught you to the bus that dropped you.
Think where did you have a choice? Absolutely none. You believed that the subjects that you opted for or the college that you selected were your choice. Think again! Everything happened as if in a flow. Just like the river flows from the mountain top to the ocean. It believes that it is doing the running and flowing. But now when you look at it, you will see that it follows a well laid out path. The beginning and the end is fixed. The path is also well defined. There are actually no choices.
We call this destiny. It’s a well drawn path and you have to follow that. You are able to think so you believe you had choices. Now think back. When you met your spouse or had your children, did you have any choices?
But again you feel that you do decide on almost everything. This idea that you have a choice and you are able to decide is the ego. Makes you believe that you are the one who can take decisions.
Now the chances of meeting free will seem to be dull. But wait. Free will exists. It is only within the framework. That means you are able to follow the path laid out but how you flow is your choice. Sometimes you may be reluctant to flow. Sometimes you wanna go fast. Sometimes you become lazy.
See, the path is laid out between point A to point B. But how to get there or which way is your prerogative. The thinking kind believe they can decide on the correct path. So they move accordingly.
The spiritual just know that they are herded and pushed all along. So they do not use their minds to unnecessarily waste their precious time and energy. They just flow along with the river. Anything that happens in their life path is just an incident which has to be experienced and then move on.
So the moment the mind comes into play, you believe you are the doer. This creates newer loops. That’s called new karma or agami karma. Futuristic karma for which there are future loops.
Now think again. Do you have choices? Do you think you can control the destiny? Can you change your family or friends? Do you think you decided on who will be your spouse or children? Did you decide on your job? Or did all of the above just happened to come in your way and you had no choice but to accept it? So accept it and just move on.
Since you now know that there are no controls that you are holding or managing by yourself, do what comes naturally to you.
When you do those things that come naturally to you then you are just flowing and following the well defined path. Every obstacle or problem will always have solutions too. The One who chalked out your destiny has also defined the problems and solutions to it. So just flow along. Trust that One who created your path. Just do what comes to you naturally.
