Shortage Of TimeWe have all faced this dilemma of shortage of time. We want to do certain things in life which are extremely important but we can’t find time to do them. We are always running after things and never able to catch them. Why does that happen?
Let us look at our normal life and you will realize how we have very little time left to do certain things. A man or woman gets up, does the morning ablutions and runs to work. Comes back extremely tired and just wants to rest or sleep. Where can these busy people find time to do anything at all?
Then a few years after marriage, there is hardly anytime to even have a sexual intercourse. Everything becomes a burden and time consuming affair. It is as if you have to write a calendar appointment to do something important. That too, it becomes a chore so you mostly give it up. Or get on with it as an obligation and finish it very quickly.
Look at the Thanksgiving day or Christmas abroad, Diwali or Dusshera day in India, it has just lost its charm. You do it to get rid of it. You want the day to end fast with minimum casualty.
The whole world cries that there is no time for anything and later the old people worry why doesn’t time fly fast? The older folks are awaiting death and freedom from pains, aches and diseases so they want quick death. The young folks demand that time slow down. There are too many things to accomplish and paucity of time.
When a man falls in love, he waits to meet his paramour eagerly. He gets her all sorts of gifts and selective objects. He finds time for her. He keeps on telling her how much he loves her a million times. The love making too is such a long drawn process. The rides are longer and work makes space for lovey dovey frivolous talk and activities. Then comes marriage and soon time flies in a jiffy. There is hardly any time for dalliance or frivolous talk. Then children and more loss of free time. No time for even a simple love message.
In college they read about time management and skillful utilization of this precious commodity. Wonderful books are prescribed and people are egged to read them. Earlier in life, man is a voracious reader but as he grows older there is no time to open any book. Even the books on time management are kept aside. We all want to know why time couldn’t be on our side?
Time is a very expensive commodity which every one should respect and honor but we love to spend time carelessly. A person could cook meals for a family of five in two hours but as they dishonor time, it takes five to six hours to do the same. So how did time gobble your freedom away?
The most important part of time management is planning for certain things. Without an airtight plan, you can never succeed.
Now I am going to give you a small mathematical problem to chew on. Let us assume man lives for 80 years and he sleeps for 8-9 hours a day. Zero on to 9 hours and you will find he sleeps over 30 years of his life. Out of 80 years, now he has only 50 years left. If he works in some job for 10 hours+2 hours traveling per day for 40 years will account for 16 years out of that. So he is left with 34 years. He plays, does other recreational activities, etc, etc. and if you total it up finally he has only a few days left to do something spectacular. Now check out where does he have time to do anything at all. So in the last stages of life he wants to put up his legs and relax to meet death.
Now to find solution let’s see if he could get up 2 hours before his usual wake up time. He will add two hours of productive time to his life, which means he gets more than 6 years of productive life back. Now isn’t 6 years more than he could imagine?
Keep all your stuff ready before the next day. Which means if you are planning to go for some event, can you keep your clothes, bag, etc ready for the event the previous day?
There are hundreds of apps there in market which will help you plan your day or iternary so download them and use to optimize your time.
To know a lot about the world, stop playing games or watching serials in trains, etc.. Read about some great stuff. Not only can you read up on stocks, shares, management, hobbies, studies, travels and other interesting stuff, but you can spend time constructively at these cooling down places. You have to travel in trains or buses, which gives you enough time to listen to podcasts, write stuff or read.
Keep a diary of things that you did and that you wish to do. This will keep all your stuff in place. You know how you waste time searching for some past records, right? So this is the way to keep it together.
Spend at least half an hour per day doing some charitable work as it will add to your good karma. You will get its returns in some other life.
I know these few points are a good place to start now. Don’t wait till tomorrow since you aren’t even sure if you will be there or you may have time again. Do it right here and now. Don’t procrastinate. Go on!
